OUR PROJECT STUDENTS SANG THE ENVIRONMENT SONG- MOTHER NATURE NEEDS US DURING REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION.
THIS SONG IS VERY BEAUTIFUL SONG TAKEN FROM NET
THE SONG IS AS FOLLOWS

MOTHER NATURE NEEDS US

IF JUST ONE PERSON SHINES , OTHERS WILL FOLLOW IN LINE,

AS WE BOARD THE GREEN HOUSE TRAIN

WE’LL SAY GOOD BYE TO ACID RAIN

AS WE FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING ,WE’LL STAND UNITED AS ONE

ALL AROUND THE WORLD , A NEW DAY HAS BEGUN

WE’ ARE SO AFRAID OF POLLUTION

BUT WE CAN FIND A BRIGHTER DAY

LET’S WORK ON THE SOLUTION

SO OUR CHILDREN CAN PLAY

IN PURE CLEAN WATER,AND BLUE SKIES ABOVE

ITS NOT A FANTASY,WE’LL MAKE IT OUR REALITY

WE’VE GOT TO ALL COME TOGETHER AND START PLANTING THE SEEDS

MOTHER NATURE NEEDS US

WE WERE BLIND BUT NOW WE SEE

WE’RE SO AFRAID OF POLLUTION

LET’S SAVE OUR PLANET

WE’VE GOT TO ALL COME TOGETHER AND START PLANTING THE SEEDS

IT’S UP TO YOU AND ME

CHICKEN LITTLE SAID THE SKY IS FALLEN DOWN

WE’VE GOT TO WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP THE WORLD GOING ROUND

LET’S THINK ABOUT OUR CHILDREN AND LEAVE A CLEANER WORLD BEHIND

MOTHER NATURE NEEDS US

TILL THE END OF TIME.

PAMPHLETS PREPARED BY OUR PROJECT GROUP

Why We Need Trees?

  • Trees make Good NeighboursTrees add beauty to our individual yards and our entire community.
  • Trees are CoolTrees cool the air, land and water with leafy shade and moisture and help save money on energy costs.
  • Animals Need TreesTrees provide food and habitat for many kinds of species.
  • Trees Protect SoilTrees roots stabilize the soil and prevent erosion.
  • Trees Help Us Breathe EasierTrees clean the air and return pure oxygen.
  • Trees Fight Climate ChangePlanting trees helps offset greenhouse gases.

Plant trees for beauty , for pleasure and for health

Plant trees for shelter , for fruitage and for wealth

IT IS NOT EXAGGERATED PRAISE TO CALL A TREE THE GRANDEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL OF ALL THE PRODUCTIONS OF THE EARTH.”

A story goes that a wicked man once unintentionally watered a sapling
while washing his hands.
On account of this he was rewarded with one day stay in heaven.

Tree Planting and Care is a holy act

PLANT A TREE, GREEN THE EARTH, CLEAN THE AIR, LIVE HAPPILY.

THINK GLOBALLY , ACT LOCALLY

How valuable is a tree?

Trees are actually priceless. In fact, trees are the most important reason for our survival without which, we are extinct. Being so, as we cannot dispense with, it becomes pointless to find the value of a tree. Regardless, always some study or other goes on towards setting a bottomline on what could be its worth.

According to a paper presented in the Indian Science Congress held in Varnasi, during January 1981, a 15 year old tree is worth :

Criteria

Value (in Rs.)

Production of oxygen

2,50,000

Control of air pollution

5,00,000

Control of soil erosion & fertility

2,50,000

Recycling of water & control of humidity

5,00,000

Bird & animal shelter

2,50,000

Protein conversion

20,000

T O T A L

15,70,000

Note: The above figures are valuations as on 1981. In today’s scenario, that too after taking into account on the prevailing pollution levels and cost inflation, it could be even 10 times the above figure. Also, this valuation is just for a 15 year old tree. The reality is that most of the trees survive 100 years and more.

Last few years, urbanization and a fast growth rate have taken their toll on the city as well as villages. More and more concrete structures are out and the result is that the green tree cover is removed

If any one comes across an illegal felling or pruning of trees, Kindly call OSAI

Planting and nurturing a small sapling is a simple way to say "I CARE".

Say I care for myself, my community, my nation, and my environment.

VIDEO OF PLASTIC RECYCLING UNIT

Plastic Recycling Unit

Manion sir took a session on the topic-plastic recycling.

The Three R's of the Environment

It's time to learn the three R's of the environment: reduce, reuse, recycle. Then practice what you preach-

Don't buy things you don't need or items that come in wasteful packaging or that cannot be recycled.

Reuse and recycle whatever you can.

Reduce

Reducing the amount of waste you produce is the best way to help the environment.

There are lots of ways to do this.

Reuse

Instead of throwing things away, try to find ways to use them again!

For example:

  • Bring cloth sacks to the store with you instead of taking home new paper or plastic bags. You can use these sacks again and again. You'll be saving some trees!

Recycle

Many of the things we use every day, like paper bags, soda cans, and milk cartons, are made out of materials that can be recycled.

Recycled items are put through a process that makes it possible to create new products out of the materials from the old ones.

Visit to PlasticRecycling unit

Our project students with cubs and bulbuls visited plastic recycling unit. Our trip was arranged by Mr.C.G.S.Manion,Manager-Marketing,Polyester sector in Reliance industries limited, who is an apex member in Siruthuli Org.
He came with us and divided the students in groups and explained the steps taken to recycle the plastics. He explained-

Plastic recycling is the process of recovering scrap or waste plastics and reprocessing the material into useful products. For instance, this could mean melting down polyester soft drink bottles then spinning the polymer into fibres. Before recycling, plastics are sorted according totheir resin identification code.

Recycling assorted PET bottles or containers, which may contain post consumer PET soda bottles or water bottles of mixed colors. The discarded bottles are collected and may be manually sorted by color. Processing of scrap PET plastic includes granulating into a PET. flake, the flake is washed and reprocessed into a recovered PET resin

The students gained so much information

Mr.Manion showed the fibres which the converted by the plastic bottles.

We were surprised to see the fibres which are made from the waste plastic bottles.

We are thankful to Mr.Manion who gave us so much of information .
